The Congregation at Prayer

Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. Then God’s peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:6-7, God’s Word)

Congregation Prayer Topics

Pray for the ministry of Peace Lutheran Church:

Ê      That the Lord would guide the direction of ministry at Peace.

Ê      That the Lord would give wisdom to enact the resolutions of the special voters meeting that we may do His will.

Ê      That the Lord would help us to speak the truth to each other in love and be reconciled where we have sinned against each other.

Ê      That the Lord would provide financial blessings to our members that they may in turn support the ministry of the Gospel.

Ê      That each of us would learn to tell about our hope in Jesus.

Ê      That each of us would use out time and talents for the benefit of the Church.

Ê      That the new officers of the District would be blessed with wisdom and skill to perform their duties.

Pray for all members and friends of Peace.

Pray for people according to their needs:

Ê      For protection of the men and women in the military:

Ê      For those who mourn loved ones

Ê      For those who need the LORD’s healing or consolation:

Verse of the Week

Ephesians 5:18-21 (ESV)
be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Psalm of the Week:             Psalm 34

Reading from the Augsburg Confession

[XVIII. Concerning Free Will]

Concerning free will it is taught that a human being has some measure of free will, so as to live an externally honorable life and to choose among the things reason comprehends. However, without the grace, help, and operation of the Holy Spirit a human being cannot become pleasing to God, fear or believe in God with the whole heart, or expel innate evil lusts from the heart. Instead, this happens through the Holy Spirit, who is given through the Word of God. For Paul says (1 Cor. 2:14): “Those who are natural do not receive the gifts of God’s Spirit.”
