The Bible says that God the Son became a man, born of the virgin Mary by the working of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:26-38; 2:1-7). Jesus is both true God and true man in one undivided person (John 1:1, 14). We call this the Incarnation.
Being true God and true man, Jesus is a holy man and does not sin. He perfectly kept God's Law (Romans 5:19).
As true man, Jesus suffered, died on the Cross, and was buried to be a sacrifice for the sins of everybody. This satisfied God's anger and judgment against the sins of all mankind (1 Peter 2:21-25).
Jesus descended into Hell victorious over the Devil and rose from the dead three days later. He ascended into heaven, reclaimed His glory with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and reigns over all creation (1 Peter 3:18-22).
Jesus sends the Holy Spirit who strengthens and comforts all who believe in him. The Spirit gives us life and blessings and defends us against the Devil and against sin (Titus 3:5-7).
Jesus will come again on the Last Day. He will bring all dead people back to life and will judge everyone. Jesus will give eternal life in Heaven to all who believe in Him as the Savior. Jesus will condemn those who do not believe in Him to Hell for eternity (John 3:16-18). |
